The first national Jersey female show and sale to be held on the New Plymouth show grounds on Monday next, commencing at 9 a.m., will mark the opening of the great series of Jersey sales in Taranaki. The series will not only provide a record Dominion offering, but this year’s cattle will also overshadow those of any Jersey Week of previous years for exceptional quality, record butterfat backing, beautiful type, excellent character and strong constitution. When it is found that stud cows of the calibre of the world’s champion four-year-old Woodland’s Felicie (C.O.R. 1220.891 b. fat) are amongst the various lots to be submitted, it is easy to prove that the statement is no exaggeration. . Throughout Jersey Week the public’s interest will be sustained in a chain of classical. sales in the following order: Tuesday, New Plymouth Jersey Cattle Club’s female sale, at New Plymouth show grounds; Wednesday, the joint sale of pedigree stock from the well-establish-ed Oaklands, Brookside and Neonstoke studs, the property of Messrs. F. W. Cornwall, A. E. Western and Colonel C. H. Weston (this sale will take place on Mr., Cornwall’s farm, Oaklands, Bell Block); Thursday, the combined sale of consignments of females and males from the well-known studs of Messrs. Truby King, P. J. Peterson, Ivondale, A. L. Hooper, Bridge View, and including a complete dispersal‘sale of Mr. H. Cole’s Pukepapa stud. The combined sale will be conducted at Mr. Truby King’s stud Jersey farm, Waitara Road); Friday, the series will be’ concluded with a complete unreserved dispersal sale of Mr. J. T. Belcher’s long-established Riverside stud, comprising 80 head of stud Jerseys, renowned for heavy production and strong constitution. In addition to Woodland’s Felicie other females to be submitted include cows with records up to 8161 b. fat., v.h.c. cows, daughters of v.h.c. cows, noted prizewinners, daughters of latest imported sires, and progeny of the highest producing and, most prepotent breeding families in New Zealand. Another feature of Jersey, Week will be the offering of a limited number of carefully selected young stud Jersey bulls, which will be found catalogued in every sale excepting that of the New Plymouth Jersey Cattle Club’s, as this fixture has been confined to females. One outstanding bull is the undefeated Silver Marquis, whose dam is the world’s champion 3-year-old Ivondale Silver Rainbow (C.O.R. 9501 b. fat), and he will be offered at the national sale on Monday. The national show, which will be a great attraction, will commence at 9 a.m. and the public is advised to be punctual if they wish to enjoy an unprecedented parade of stud Jersey aristo-crats-and at the same time cast a critical eye over the various high-class animals which are certain to combine in attracting interest. Luncheon will be available I at all the sales and- catalogues are now available at the various bmches of the auctioneers, Newton King, Ltd., and Wright, Stephenson Co., Ltd.
