COASTAL BOWLING
CUPS FOR COMPETITION. There are on viev? at the Stony River Hotel two handsome trophies which have been presented for competition among bowling clubs between Oakura and Rahotu. At present there are three clubs, Okato, Warea and Rahotii. The White Top Trophy presented by the Taranaki Brewery Company is a handsome heavy pewter of striking design standing ,oh a solid pedestal. It had been allocated as a challenge cup for a full rink annual competition between the three clubs concerned. A start will be made with the competition to-day, when the following will represent Okato: Woolier, Crosby, Williams, Henderson (s); Eustace, Edwards, Roebuck, Brookes (s). The other trophy is the Duff. Cup presented by Drysdale and Co. It is a silver cup set on a solid pedestal and is also for annual competition as a challenge cup. It has not been allocated yet but will probably be allotted for a pairs competition. . " The Okato bowling green, which was laid down this season, is developing well. The club intends to give it plenty of time, and for that reason does not intend officially to open it until next season, though it is hoped to have a few games about Easter. . , . •
