A feature of yesterday’s play was in the first life of the ladies’ championship when Mrs. Bishop-Martin peeled her partner ball through five hoops in her match with Mrs. Glenny—an unusual feature in any game, By defeating Mrs. Henderson Mrs. Caldow entered the final of the open championship. In the first game Mrs. Caldow was far superior as the score, 26—3, indicates. In the second game Mrs Henderson made a wonderful recovery, but lost the game by six points. When Mrs. Caldow had both balls on the peg Mrs. Henderson had made only three, but before the "winner could peg out she had made another 17. In the second, life of the ladies’ championship Mrs. Caldow reached the semi-final by defeating Mrs. Mus* champ 26—12. Mrs. Muschamp got in early and went to four back. Mrs, Caldow made two hoops, and then Mrs. Muschamp made three more. The end was in sight, however, when Mrs. Caldow got in and finished the game. The semi-finals of the championship doubles were reached when Mrs. Boocock and Mrs. • Henderson defeated Mrs. Mouatt and Mrs. Glenny 26—21. Mrs. Henderson made a good all-round break, but her partner was having difficulty by sticking in the hoops. Mrs. Glenny got in, but was unfortunate in overrunning her hoops. She over-ran the penultimate and let the opponents in to win. Mrs. Mouatt failed to make her usual all-round break, baulking at several hoops. Progress yesterday was necessarily slow in spite of the ideal conditions, ■being confined to a few players in each event.
