LA MODE IN 1933.
It may be that the influenza epidemic will cause some curtailment of the full programme of hunt bails in the New Year; but dressmakers are optimists, financially and otherwise, and they are holding a number of fashion salons just now, in order to advertise their latest ideas for femine beautifying. AU these dress parades, at which the prettiest and stateliest mannequins in London are engaged, make a big feature of evening gowns, and these are most arresting by reason of the pretty colour schemes involved in their make-up. Amongst the models that aroused most enthusiasm—at a West End mannequin show one is always conscious of a sort of intenser silence when sensational sartorial reactions are registered—were a Spanish design in three colours and a French one in two. White, black, and blue appear to be the favoured shades. And simplicity—in design, but not in coatis ths prevailing note.
