White has returned from Pukearuhe. NATIONAL COUNCIL OF WOMEN. The New Plymouth branch of the National Council of Women held its first meeting of the year on Monday. Miss Andrews presided over a large attendance of representatives of the Nurses’ Association, W.C.T.U., District Nurse Association, Taranaki Women Teachers, High School Old Girls’ Association, Girl Guides, Y.W.C.A., and Red Cross. Correspondence was received relating to the conference which is to be held at Wellington at the end of March. Miss Drew was elected delegate to represent the New Plymouth branch. The remits for the conference were discussed. The president reported the new arrangements made at a special relief meeting early in the year for the future management of the pound scheme, which is to commence again in April. ENGAGEMENTS.
