A highly successful pleasure cruise made by the Union Company’s steamer Marama along the North Auckland coast concluded to-day. The vessel left Auckland on Monday evening with 300 passengers, including visitors from Australia and the South Island. She called at Whangaroa, Russell and Great Barrier Island. She returned to Auckland this morning with the tourists singing and cheering on the decks. This afternoon she left on her usual run to Sydney. All the passengers were delighted with the experience and presented the captain with a letter voicing appreciation of the company’s nterprise. The cruise was the first of the kind made in northern waters. Sight-seeing trips were arranged for tourists at the ports of call. CARINTHIA AT AUCKLAND round-world pleasure trip. 300 TOURISTS FROM AMERICA. Auckland, Last Night. The Cunard liner Carinthia arrived at Auckland to-day in the course of a world cruise with 300 American tourists. Of the passengers 250 have previously made trips round the world. A large number left for Rotorua and others will make a motor trip through the North Island to Wellington, where they will join the Carinthia on Tuesday. The vessel will leave Auckland on Monday for Wellington. The Carinthia is a liner of over 20,000 tons.
