JERSEY CATTLE CLUB

FIELD DAY ARRANGEMENTS. The committee of the New Plymouth Jersey Cattle Club met yesterday, Mr. H. C. Sampson presiding. Others present were Messrs. E. Griffiths, G. H. Beli r F. D. Ballantyne, J. S. Jones and H. Salway. Mesdames Sampson, Bell, Jones and J. Dobson also attended. Arrangements for the field day at Mr. Jones’ Bell Block farm were finalised. The ladies at the meeting agreed to act as a* committee to take charge of lunch and afternoon tea.. Mr. Salway was appointed to attend to the provision of tables, forms and crockery. The following programme was arranged: 11 a.m., president’s welcome to visitors; 11 to 12, demonstration with Messrs. Sampson, Jones, Bell and Griffiths as demonstrators; 12 to. 1, lunch; 1 to 1.30, talks on subjects of interest to the breed, Messrs. Bell and Griffiths to prepare subjects; 1.30 to 2.30,' judging contests open to competitors under 18 and over 18 unless their names figure on the official judges’ list. For the judging contest it was decided that five cows in milk should be used and competitors would be required to place them in order of merit and state reasons. Afternoon tea will be at 3 o’clock and if time permits a demonstration on the points of a Jersey bull will then be given. Members of kindred cattle clubs and dairy farmers generally will be invited to attend. Mr. C. N. Moore, Avenue Road, was elected a member of the club.
