DAIRY QUOTATIONS FALLING

BOTH FOR BUTTER AND CHEESE. REPORTS FROM LONDON MARKET. Butter Quotations. Yesterday: Finest and first, 76s to 78s; dull. Last week: Finest and first, 80s; steady. Last year: Finest U2s; first Ills; quiet. Cheese Quotations. Yesterday: White 445; coloured 52s to 545; steady. Last week: White 475; coloured 575; steady. Last year: White 635; coloured 645; quiet. In the following cabled reports from London received yesterday the latest quotations are given, with last week’s quotations in parentheses:— Mr. E. Griffiths (A. J. Mills and Co., Ltd): The butter market is weak: New Zealand finest, 76s to 77s (80s); New Zealand firsts, 75s to 76s (78s to 795); New Zealand unsalted, 78s to 80s (80s to 82s); Danish, 106 s to 108 s (106 s to 108 s); Australian, 73s to 75s (75s to 775). The cheese market is steady: New Zealand white, 44s to 45s (46s to 475); New Zealand coloured, 53s to 54s (57s to 58s); ,Canadian white, 64s to 66s (64s to 665); Canadian coloured, 63s to 67s (65s to 675). Newton King, Ltd. (R. and W. Davidson, Ltd.): The butter market is quiet, but the demand is improving; salted, 76s to 78s (78s to 80s); unsalted, 78s to 80s (78s to 80s). The cheese market is slightly steadier; • white, 44s (475); coloured, 53s to 54s (58s). Joseph Nathan and Co., Ltd.: Butter, very quiet, 765; cheese, white, 44s 1 6d (firm on spot); coloured, 52s to 54s (weak). A rapid reduction in the premium on white is likely.
