WOMEN’S DIVISION MEETING

RATAPIKO-MANGANUI BRANCH. The first monthly meeting of the Rata-piko-Manganui branch of the W.D.F.U. for the year was held in the Ratapiko Hall on Friday last, Mrs. Long presiding over a fair attendance. A paper dealing with the forthcoming tour of Miss V. Macmillan, a graduate of Massey College, was discussed, and it was decided by members to take, advantage of the lectures on home science to be given by Miss Macmillan in the neighbourhood. It was decided to send a small donation towards the Inglewood ladies’ rest room, run for the benefit of country women, and in danger of being closed owing to lack of funds. A demonstration on rug-making was given by Mrs. B. M. Dust, a completed rug and one in the making being exhibited. Hostesses for afternoon tea were Mesdames Getch and Lepper. JUNIOR BRANCH MEETING. The first meeting of the RatapikoManganui junior branch was held in conjunction with the meeting of senior members. The competition for a fancy apron proved popular, beautiful work being shown. Mrs. Long congratulated the girls upon their meritorious work whtcn must have entailed many painstaking hours, all the work being finely executed and colours well blended., All members agreed that the exhibition reflected great credit upon the girls. The judging was carried out by popular vote, Miss Myrtle Bowling coming first with an apron depicting “Miss New Zealand. Afternoon tea concluded the meeting.
