MATCHES IN COMPETITION
. NORTHERN DIVISION FIXTURES. .
TO CONTINUE FOR A FORTNIGHT. Shield competition matches were continued in squally weather by the bowling clubs of the northern division on Saturday. The results are:— ‘ New Plymouth 152 v. Vogeltown 117. Fire Brigade 94 v. Fitzroy 83. Waitara 61 v. Awakino 38. Waitara 96 v. Urenui 53. West End defeated Paritutu. At a meeting of club delegates at New Plymouth on Saturday night it was decided to play two more Saturdays. in the second round, the only alteration from the original fixtures being that on February 25 Fitzroy will play Awakino and Urenui, instead of West End. This will mean that the three leading teams in the northern division—Waitara, Fitzroy and Fire Brigade—will have played the same number of games. The club with most wins on February 25 will be declared the winner of the division and will play off with the winner in the central division. The winner of this match will meet the winner of the southernwestern division match for the championship of the province. FIRE BRIGADE BEAT FITZROY. Fire Brigade defeated Fitzroy by 11 points in a four-teams match played on the Fire Brigade green. Details '.are:— F. F.B.
CONCLUSION OF SHIELD MATCHES.
NORTH TARANAKI COMPETITION.
At a meeting of delegates from bowling clubs in the northern division held on Saturday it was resolved that on the following two Saturdays, February 18 and 25, the shield games be played as drawn with the exception that on February 25 Fitzroy play Urenui and Awakino instead of playing West End, and that the leading team at that date be the winner of the northern division competition.
