DOG TOTALISATORS CLOSE

14,000 LOSE JOBS IN ENGLAND.

By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright London, Feb. 9.

The totalisators on greyhound tracks in England and Wales are expected to be closed to-morrow. The London totalisators were closed to-night following police warnings that there would be prosecutions unless they were discontinued forthwith and bookmakers conducted all the betting. The greyhound societies instructed their tracks throughout the country to close the totalisators.

The Chronicle estimates that 14,000 operators will lose their jobs.
