SCHOOL CHILDREN’S CONCERT. 'A good programme and the support accorded by. the residents of the district combined to make the Pukeho school children’s concert in the school on Friday a successful close to the year’s work. Much credit is due to Miss Wooldridge for the way she trained the children. Several items were of high merit. Following the concert prograrwne Father Christmas attended, arriving in his aeroplane, and presented each child with a small gift and bag of sweets. The stage was decorated by Mrs. S. A. George and Mrs. Goodwin, assisted by Misses _N. George and J. Lambert. Mrs. J. W. Simmons provided a lot of the decorations. The Misses,. J,, and. A.. Lambert procured iiikau ferns. “

■ Following is the concert programme: “The First Noel,” children; “Shoemakers’ Dance,” children; “Out in the Rain,” Desmond George; nursery rhymes, children; song, Mrs. J. Drummond: drill, children; “Red’Poppies,” Shirley Rutherford; “House that Jack Built,” children; “Cochin China,” children; “Washing Song,” Muriel Goodwin; songs and chorus, children; “Old Woman and Pedlar.” ' , . After supper the floor was cleared for dancing to music supplied by Mr. and Mrs. S. A. George, Mr. J. Lynch and Miss Paterson. Mr. C. W. Goodwin was master of ceremonies. At a meeting of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, which was presided over by Mrs. S. A. George, a competition was organised by Mrs. S. George and won by Mrs. Goodwin. Hostesses for afternoon tea were Mesdames S. George, L. George, W. Rauen and C. W. Goodwin. „

Mr. E. A. Surrey and the Misses G»ace and Neste Surrey have taken up their residence in this district. Mrs. J. Drummonjl was a visitor to New Plymouth during last week. Miss L. Wooldridge has left for her home at New Plymouth for the school vacation. Mr. G. C. Rutherford is indisposed. Mr. and Mrs. D. Tempro, Midhirst, and Mr. and Mrs. A; George, Norfolk Road, were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. - Harry George during last week-end. The Misses Pearl and Joan Goodwin and Masters C. and B. Goodwin, Palmerston North, , are the guests of Whs. C. W. Goodwin for the summer holidays. Mr. Peter Topping, who is an inmate of the New Plymouth hospital, is progressing slowly.
