COUNCIL GRANTS USE OF HALL APPEAL BY SENIOR MAGISTRATE. PROTEST FROM JOINT COMMITTEE. “ADVERSE FINDING FLOUTED.” By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Dec. 20. Following the hearing of a deputation, of which Mr. E. C. Cutten, senior stipendiary magistrate of Auckland, was the chief spokesman, the Auckland City Council last Thursday reversed its previous decision not to allow the use of the Town Hall to Mr. A. H. Dallimore, the evangelist, for his faith-healing services. . . , . To-day the joint medical, professional and clerical committee of inquiry, which recently investigated the faith-healing mission and reported in extremely adverse terms, has issued a statement expressing deep concern that anyone holding the responsible office of senior magistrate should have made a pubhc demonstration to comment upon Mr. uailimore’s mission. , The committee says that it was forced after a careful and comprehensive survey to declare that the mission would be a danger to the health, sanity and morale of the community. , “We submit that in his presentation of the case to the council,” says the committee, “Mr. Cutten, by flouting and ■ misrepresenting the considered and ' unanimous opinion of the representative 1 committee, including university proies- ! sors, medical practitioners and ministers > of religion, which was also unanimously I endorsed by the Auckland Council of • Christian Congregations, ‘ has forgotten ’ the great traditions of his office.
