STRATFORD RAILWAY BANQUET.

DECORATION'S AND MODEL TRAIN.

■ The model engine that attracted so inucih attention at the railway banquet at Stratford was lent by Mr. Penny, Eltham, who built it himself aS a perfect working model of a typical New Zealand engine. The trucks were also made by Mr. Penny. The decorations that graced the tables and building were the work of Mrs. A. Moon and Mr. H. Dixon. The coloured lights were erected by the electrical engineer (Mr. A. E. Moss). The symbolic map on the front page of the menu was made by the printers to a design suggested by Mr. P. Skoglund. It was a representation of the Taranaki coastline with two ships, one coming in and the other going out of the port of New Plymouth. On top was depicted the railway connecting Auckland and Wellington, with the new line feoming down the middle of the province to Stratford, where it branched on the 'one side to Hawera and on the other to New Plymouth. “Linked with bands 'of steel,” was the inscription .placed between the three words, Auckland, Wellington, Taranaki.
