BEIT TRUST EXPENDITURE.

IMPROVEMENT OF ROUTES.

British Wireless. Rugby, Sept. 2. Immediate effect is being given to the provisions of the Beit Trust, under which £50,000 is to be devoted to the improvement of air communication in Africa. Over £lO,OOO has already been ear-mark-ed for immediate tasks in Northern and Southern Rhodesia along the route followed by Imperial Airways in theii 4 flights with passengers, mails and freight over the Cairo and Cape Town sections of the air mail which connects South Africa with England. The immediate work includes the provision of new alighting grounds and the enlargement and improvement of existing aerodromes. Careful attention is being paid to improving the facilities for wireless communication between aircraft and land stations, and to the development of the telephone service between air stations or between aerodromes and towns or cities.
