MANY BIG LINERS ENGAGED. RECORDS IN AIR TRAVELLING. (British Wireless.) Rec. 5.5 p.m. _ Rugby, July 30. Southampton is the scene of record activity this week-end. Twenty-two vessels totalling 600,000 tons, including the Empress of Britain, Aquatania, Berengaria, Olympic, Homeric and other of the world’s largest liners are sailing on holiday cruises to Mediterranean and other ports, and cruises round the British Isles. The cruise bookings, which are four times as great as last year, are evidence of the growing movement to spend holidays cruising in British vessels.
