TRAINING YOUNG SURGEONS
APPOINTMENTS TO HOSPITALS.
EXPERT ADVICE FOR BOARDS.
By Telegraph.—Press Association.
Wellington, Last Night. Sir Donald McGavin, Dr.| T. Duncan, Dr. M. Stout and Dr. Wylie (Palmerston North), representing the Australasian Royal College of Surgeons, addressed the hospital boards’ conference to-day with reference to facilities being giyen for the training in public hospitals of ... younger practitioners in surgery. A large proportion of the surgical work in a community, they said, was done in general hospitals. The College of Surgeons was of opin-ion-that-the appointment of surgeons by hospital boards should be made on the recommendation of a medical committee. It was pleasing to note this system was being adopted m New Zealand and that the-majority of hospital boards now sought such advice. It was that wherever possible all major surgery should be done in one of the larger hospitals.
