54,000 MEN UNEMPLOYED
NEW ZEALAND’S HIGHEST TOTAL
3900 INCREASE IN FIVE WEEKS.

Unemployment registrations for NewZealand for the week ended June 6 totalled 54,027 as compared with . 53,543 for the previous seven days, an increase of 484. This is the highest figure ever recorded, v The total of unemployed for the week under review includes 40,874 men employed on No. 5 scheme, leaving 13,153 standing down or unplaced. Since May 2 the registrations for the whole Dominion have increased by 3934 (50,093 to 54,027). .
