Rec 5.5 p.m. ■ June \ The King has issued a Royal ’warrant renting a new decoration, called the Indian Police Medal, for the recognition of meritorious services by the regular police forces fn India, which total 200,000 officers and men. They have in recent years passed through a period of exceptional strain, and their loyalty and devotion to duty h»v» been of inestimable support to the Government in combating ’ the forces of disoraer. IpdifU The issue of the new decoration explains the absence from the recent birthday honours list of recognition of the work of the ,-ank and file in the Indian police service. To safeguard the value of tha new decoration the annual distribution will be limited to 200, and the first will shortly take place.
