SYDNEY POLICE DISCOVERY

JEWELS LIKE MISS DENZEL’S

MAN DISAPPEARS IN SCRUB

WOMAN’S BELATED REPORT

By Telesfraph—Press Assn. —Copyrisht.

Rec. 5.5 p.m. Sydney, April 14. The man wanted, by the police for the killing of Dorothy Denzel and Frank Wilkinson, Sydney couple' whose bodies were found in shallow graves last week-end at Liverpool, had another close call on Friday afternoon. Although the fact bepame known only yesterday, the police apparently went within a hundred yards of where he was resting'or camping in the scrub in the Dumbleton district, I’2 miles south of Sydney. A woman living in the locality saw a man rise to his feet after the police had passed. He beat a hasty retreat. The woman thought him only a casual dosser and failed to report the matter until yesterday.

The police returned to the spot and made an important discovery. A tweed overcoat was spread on the ground: and. a chaff bag contained a gun, the stock of which was split, showing stains like blood. There were jewels, trinkets, a girl’s watch similar to that worn by Miss Denzel before she was murdered, two rings, a blood-stained bandage, portions of a rug and portions of a man 1 * clothing which are thought to be Wilkinson’s.
