PUKEARUHE NOTES
PERSONAL AND GENERAL.
(From Our Own Correspondent.)
Miss Eunice Welk, who underwent an operation at a New Plymouth private hospital on Tuesday, is progressing favourably and is expected home early next week. Mr. and Mrs. Mathie and family have returned to. Opunake after spending an enjoyable ten days with Mrs. A. Cocker. Mr. Blake has almost recovered from his recent illness, and expects to resume his duties shortly. Mr, Skuse, the new Methodist missioner, has arrived in the district. Mrs. C. Dunbar and Miss Dunbar (Sydney) are the guests of Mrs. J. Johnson. ■ Mr. Ron Jones, who met with a serious accident recently, is showing slight improvement. A number of members of the Anglican Church in Pukearuhe were present at the annual meeting of parishioners, held in the Uruti hall on Monday evening. Bishop Cherrington presided. The balance-sheet showed a debit of about £2O, but this the bishop considered satisfactory in view of the fact that more unfavourable positions were shown in a number of other parishes. The report and balance-sheet were passed. Officers elected for the ensuing year were Mr. Butt (vicar’s warden), Mr. H. Martin (people’s warden), and a vestry of ten, representative of the various districts in the parish.
