OKAIAWA DISTRICT NEWS.
An enjoyable evening in aid of the Women’s Division Farmers’ Union was held at the residence of Mrs. E. G. Betts, “Bine Grove,” Normanby Road, Okaiawa, on Monday. Items W’ere contributed by Miss G. Lees, Mrs. Bradley, and Mr. H. Cameron (songs), Misses G. ■Lees and A. Betts (pianoforte solos). Competitions were won by the following: Word building, Mr. A. Lees and Miss A. Betts; weight of grapes, Mr. G. Betts. The euchre prizes were won ■by Mrs. W. Blair (9 games) and Mr. C. Betts (SJ games). Speeches were made by Mrs. D. Cameron, Mr. A. Lees and Mr. E. Betts. Mrs. E. Betts wore a beautiful dress of navy blue georgette and lace. Those present included Mrs. G. Betts, Miss G. Betts, Miss F. Betts, Mrs. W. Blair, Mrs. Good, Mrs. O’Neil, Mrs. Bradley (Auckland), Mrs. Lees, Mrs. D. Cameron, Mrs. H. Cameron, Mrs. Booth, 'Misses E. Washer, Alice Betts, Audrey Betts, G. Lees, H. Cameron, E. Cameron, B. Oldfield and W. Oldfield. The rooms were decorated in autumn tints.
Mrs. O’Neil and Mrs. Bradley (Auckland) are the guests of Mrs. E. Betts. Miss H. Cameron, having spent a holiday with her parents, is returning to New Plymouth to-day. Mrs. H. Cameron was the guest of Mrs. A. Murdoch over the week-end.
