The fathers and mothers "who sit with schoolboy sons and daughters may be more ignorant about metals and their uses and less familiar with prehistoric animals, but they are no less interested than their children. The lecturers, too, enjoy themselves. This year Professor Poulton set the ball rolling by telling fascinating stories of the methods of attack and defence in the struggle for existence among animals. He touched, upon mimicry; he described Nature’s methods of protecting different species and their means of attracting their prey. He made the children laugh by showing a slide of a deep-sea fish which dared not lose an opportunity of food, and eo swallowed a fish many quizes lamer than itself.
