PUBLIC SERVICE SALARIES

SOUTH AUSTRALIAN “CUTS” OFFICIALS AND TEACHERS. A further reduction of 10 per cent, in the salaries of civil servants in South Australia has been announced. Thia will come into force on October 3, making the total reduction 20 per cent. The total saving to the State under the latest reduction will be £65,000 a year. Expenditure on salaries will be £130,000 below the 1929-1930 level. The salaries of members of the South Australian Public Teachers’ Union will be reduced by 11 1-0 per cent, from October 3, making a total decrease of 20 per cent, on the 1929-1930 rates. This cut is provided in an award made by the Industrial Court and will remain in force for a year.
