GIRL INJURED BY LORRY
KNOCKED DOWN ON AVENUE ROAD
COMPOUND FRACTURE OF SKULL.
Sufferihg from a compound fracture of tlie skull, Miss Rita Kirk, aged 17, was admitted to tlie New Plymouth hospital on Saturday evening, when she was operated upon. Her condition last night was reported to bo satisfactory. Miss Kirk was knocked down by a motor-lorry in Avenue Road, near George’s stables, about 0 p.m. It is understood she and Mr. A. Parkes "C, 16 walking towards the town on their lettliand edge of the bitumen when they saw the head-lights of an approaching car. ■ It was apparently as they were on the point of meeting the car that a motdr lorry driven by Mr. D. M. Wilson knocked Miss Kirk d° wa - r girl was attended by Dr. W. J. Reid before being removed to the hospital in the ambulance. , It is understood Miss Kirks mother lives at Oakura. .
