REDUCTION IN SALARIES. London, July 15“Business has never been so bad,” said the secretary of the Entertainments Protection Association, confirming the news that vaudeville salaries were to be cut drastically. Although some salaries of over £l5O a week are to be halved, it is unlikely that the most highly-paid variety artists will agree to such slicing of their income. Among those reputed to draw the largest weekly cheques are Sir Harry Lauder (£1000), Gracie Fields ( £500) and George Robey ( £500).
