THE REGENT. MATINEE TO-DAY 2 P.M. “Monte Carlo,” Paramount’s stunning musical romance, will conclude its local season at The Regent, New Plymouth, to-day with a matinee screening at 2 p.m. and evening session at 7.45. Jack Buchanan,. Jeanette McDonald and Claude Allister head tho great cast in “Monte Carlo.” The supports are splendid. COMMENCING TO-MORROW. “A Devil with Women,” which commences at The Regent to-morrow at 2 and 7.45 p.m., is a unique type of .romantic drama, laid against the colourful background of a Central American republic. Victor McLaglen enacts the role of a wandering soldier of fortune, and Mona Marls that of a wealthy heiress who is saved by AlcLaglen and his buddy from a group of bandits. Humphrey Bogart, Luana Alcaniz, Michael Vavitch, John St. Polis, Mona Rico, Mrs. Jiminez and other firm celebrities are in the cast of the film, which Irving Cummings directed. “A Devil with Women” will be preceded by a, excellent array of shorts.

“Big Boy,” starring Al Jolyon and “The Way of All Men”’ starring Douglas Fairbanks junr., Noah Beery and Dorothy Revier, will both be finally screened at Everybody’s, New Plymouth, to-night commencing at 7.45. The supports include Pathe News and “Interesting Tails” (sportlight). COMMENCING TO-MORROW. ' “Way Out West,” M.G.M.’s big comedy drama starring William Haines with Polly Moran and Leila Hyams, will head the new programme commencing at Everybody's to-morrow at 2 and 7.45 p.m. The picture is a howling farce which presents Haines as a carnival barker whose attempts at cheating a group of cowboys with a crooked roulette wheel land him oh a Western ranch on the back of a bucking broncho. He becomes involved in a series of exciting escapades ’but before the picture is over has proved that he can stand the gaff of the country where “men are men.” There will be a big supporting programme.

JOHN SIcCORMACK AGAIN.

“Song ’o My Heart,” John McCormack’s first talking and singing picture which created immense enthusiasm when first screened in New Plymouth; will play a return season of . one .night only at the Opera House to-morrow (Saturday) night. A famous editor recently wrote:- “John McCormack’s voice and art have given more real delight and inspiration to a greater number of people than any other voice of all time. He has taken happiness and peace into thousands upon thousands of homes. His life aiid work have made millions happy and for that. he deserves honour and hippiness himself.” Primarily, that added millions might hear the voice of this groat singer was the reason that Winfield Sheehan, vice president and general manager of the Fox Film Corporation, induced McCormack to accept a picture starring contract. The-clarity and the definiteness of Fox movietone makes his Requisition invaluable. . In the picture, directed by Frank Borzage and based on a story written especially for McCormack by Tom Barry, the supporting cast includes Maureen O’Sullivan, J. M. Kerrigan, Farrell Macdonald, Effie Ellsler, John Garrick and Tommy Clifford. There will be a selected supporting programme.'
