TOWN BOARD MEETING. The rqonthly meeting of the Kaponga Town Board was held on Tuesday evening, when Commissioner A. R. Bates (chairman) presided over Commissioners R. A. Law, E. L. Abbott, J. P. Gibson, W. G. Cran, H. J. Mills and W. Marr. The electrical engineer reported that minor iriterruptipps were experienced With both plants during the month, No. 1 generating plant having broken a coupling belt while driving the maximum load on a Saturday evening, involving an interruption of - approximately half an hour, q.nd No. 2 plant having stopped on one occasion owing to the river having freshened overnight and blocked the screen with leaves and other, rubbish. These items caused inconvenience, but no damage, and the plants ran satisfactorily otherwise. A totaj. of 35,130 units was generated in No. 2 power house, as compared with 30,060 for the same month last year. No purchase of bulk supply was necessary owing to ah ample stream flow and a diminished demand. A minor leak in No. 2 pipe line was repaired. An unusual number of interruptions occurred on the Riverlea-Awatuna-Rowan section of the lines from various causes, chief among which were limbs falling from trees on to the high tension lines, and wandering cattle rubbing on the poles, causing the high-tension wires to become crossed and operate the automatic switch. These troubles occurred at night, and required' much time and trouble to locate. Stormy weather caused minor inconvenience only.

The Melville Road extension was completed, and a lighting consumer is connected. The staff was largely engaged in cutting back trees during the month, and the rest of the period was spent in carting and fitting poles preparatory to the main pole replacepient programme, and in repairing lines that were otherwise oqt of order. One new domestic installation was added to the system dqring the month, qud a suspension street lighting fitting ■was erected in the centre of the town. The main pole replacement programme is now being pushed on as fast as the weather will allow. '
