RULES OF THE ROAD
HINTS TO MOTOR-BUS DRIVERS. (By Mr. R. Day, chief inspector, borough of New Plymouth.) Apart from regulations which arc strict on the matter, common decency demands that on meeting stock one should drive carefully. Drovers generally are most anxious to help in such a case, and they do appreciate a kindly action on the part of a motoiist. Car drivers, especially on narrow roads, should make quite sure that the road ahead is safe before attempting to pass. Many drivers wait until they arc close behind the front car before pulling out. If a car is approaching from the opposite direction an accident is inevitable. . . It should be well known that driving to the danger of the public ,or being intoxicated while in charge of a car, is punishable by imprisonment and the driver or owner may be mulcted in heavy damages.
