CHICHESTER’S BAD LUCK

INJURY TO HAND SUFFERED.

ACCIDENT ON AIRCRAFT-CARRIER.

While assisting to put hie plane on board the Albatross for repairs he had his hand caught between the macnine and the ship. The top of one finger was taken off and his hand crushed and lacerated rather badly. He is in hospital on board the Albatross. In a'l probability his plane will now be brought tc Sydney by the seaplane carrier. Mr. Chichester took off from Lord Howe Island at 9 o’clock on Saturday morning in his reconstructed Moth seaplane Madame Elijah on the last stage of his interrupted flight from Parengarenga, North Auckland, to Sydney. Mr. Chichester left New Zealand on the morning of Saturday, March 28, on a flight over the Tasman Sea, and eleven hours later landed on the water at NorfolK Island, his machine have been fitted, with floats. After a brief delay owing to weather he took off on Wednesday, April 1 at 10.3 a.m., and landed at Lord Howe Island at 3.7 pan. (Sydney time). Owing to serious damage which occurred to the seaplane while moored, new wings had to be obtained from Sydney and the machine reconstructed.
