RAILWAY DIRECTORATE
ANNOUNCEMENT THIS WEEK PRIME MINISTER EXPLAINS DELAY SIR. J. GUNSON PROBABLY MEMBER By Telegraph.-~Pres3 Association. Wellington, Last Night. Referring to the delay in the appointment of five members of the board of directors to take charge of the New Zealand railway system under de-political-isation legislation, the Prime Minister to-day said he was anxious to obtain the best available men for the directorate and he was now awaiting the reply of one man whom he had approached for membership. The personnel would be announced as soon as possible and the Prime Minister expected to be able to make it public very shortly, certainly before tile end of this week. Rumour has it that Sir James Gunson, Auckland, will be one member of the board and three of the others will be a well-known and popular Christchurch business man, a Dunedin accountant of repute and a prominent representative of farming interests. It is understood the Prime Minister’s main difficulty has been to secure the services of a Welhng-J ton representative.
