PROVISIONAL AGREEMENT
SOUTH WALES COAL DISPUTE RESUMPTION ON FORMER PAY JOINT CONCILIATION BOARD By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 8.30 p.m. London, Jan. 15. ' A provisional agreement has been reached in the South Wales coal dispute. Negotiations were continued at the Board of Trade yesterday and the issues were so narrowed down that a settlement was confidently expected. When the miners’ and owners’ representatives again attended this morning it was announced that the dispute'had been settled. The terms of the provisional agreement include a resumption at the pay ruling in November, 1930, underground workers working seven and a-half hours daily. A joint conciliation board is considering the minimum percentage subsistence wage. The conference, in which Mr. Graham and Mr. Shin well are taking part to find a basis for renewed negotiations between the South Wales coal owners and the miners, continued all day in London. Agreement was reached by the board on a majority of the points and it is hoped the agreement will be submitted to the miners’ conference* at Cardiff today. If it is accepted work will resume on Sion day. The agreement lasts at least until January 31,-1934.
