MORE BIRTHS IN DECEMBER
INCREASE IN URBAN AREAS.

Wellington, Jan. 15.
Live births registered for urban areas in December' amounted to 1126 as against 1079 in November, an increase of 47. Deaths in December were 590, an increase of 56 compared with th© previous month. Of the total deaths males contributed 332 and females 258. Fifty-six of the deaths were of children under five years of age, being 9.49 per cent, of the whole number. Forty-nine of these were under one year of age. x
