Dame Nellie Melba, says the Melbourne Argus, has completely recovered from her illness.

Dr. G. H. Scholefield, Parliamentary Librarian, accompanied by his wife and daughter, are spending a few days at Opunake. Mr. Bradshaw Dive, Tauranga, is visiting New Plymouth. Mr. Dive represented. 0 the Eltham district in Parliament some years' ago.

Mr. Ewen Macintyre, of the Matamata branch, aud successor to Mr. H. C. Morgan, accountant of the Bank of New Zealand at New Plymouth, has arrived and commenced his duties. Mr. Morgan will leave on promotion next week for Palmerston North.

Guests at the Hotel Imperial, New Ply* mouth, include Mr. and Mrs. F. Cheverall (Wellington), Mr. and Mrs. Eastbury (Auckland), Mr. W. lawford (Auckland), Mr. R.\Millward (Warganui), Mr. D._ McClymont (Wanganui), Mr. H. Olliver (Palmerston North), and Mr. R. D. Whyte (Palmerston North).

Mr. John Cumming, Ipswich, Queensland, is visiting New Plymouth. He is speeding a holiday ll with his daughter (Mrs. F. W. G. McLeod). Mr. Cumming has been prominent in the coal mining industry in Ipswich for many years, but is now retired. He is also a keen bowler, his club (Ipswich) having won the coveted pennsnt in 1930, which is competed for annually by the bowling clubs of Ipswich md Brisbane.
