KORITO SCHOOL CONCERT
SUCCESSES OF THE PUPILS. , Thfe school year atKorito ended on Thursday evening with a most successful concert by the pupils. The school room was filled by parents and friends and an enjoyable evening was spent. On behalf of the school committee Mr. W H. Reader presented prizes and certificates of attendance to the folldwing': Elsie Herbert, Joyce Herbert, Doris Weston, Lorna Ashman, Iris Herbert and Joseph Ashman. A special certificate was presented to Elsie Herbert for six years’ continuous attendance. MOnica Miller received a prize for winning the school calf-rearing competition and° Lorna Ashman for winning the warden (Section for the district. Proficiency was gained by Joseph Ashman and Elsie Herbert. The concert programme was as follows: Recitation, Gordon Snell; grand march and song, pupils; recitation, Oma and Leslie song, pupils; recitations, Jean Hine and Monica Miller; song, pupils; Peggy Baker and Iris Herbert; Summer Days, DOris Weston; song, standards V. and VI.; recitations, Elsie. Herbert; solo dance, Monica Miller; cobblers’ dance, Patsy Miller; recitations, Hugh Peters; game, pupils. Final, song. A Monte Carlo dance for the Children was won by Peggy Baker and Bruce Smith. The majority of the children were in fancy dress. After supper the floor was cleared for dancing. Th© concert was organised by Miss G. Reader, A. Peters and E. Ashman. The school swimming baths ai‘6 now beinw used and enjoyed. An official opening is expected to take place einy in February. Mr. Rehder congratulated the parents on the construction of such splendid swimming baths and called for. cheers for the school committee, which were enthusiastically given.
