SCHOOL CHILDREN’S FUNCTIONS.
The Opunake Convent school children and Catholic school children from adjoining districts were entertained on Tuesday by the parents and members at a Christmas tree festival. Father Christmas, was present and dispensed from the festive tree presents to every child. The ladies attended to the tea, cake and ice cream delicacies. Every child and adult present was given a good time. St. Patrick’s Hall . was crowded with young folks. The school broke up on Wednesday. The junior Red Cross at the Opunake
echool promoted a- concert on Wednesday afternoon. The organisation and management were carried out entirely by the fl cholars. Invitations to the parents were extended and liberally availed of. A minimum charge was made and a fair sum was realised. The concert was an enjoyable one. Shopkeepers of Opunake have made special arrangements for lighting their business promisee during Christinas week. It will be the best illuminated torni in Taranaki during the festive week. Special arrangements have ?Jeo been made for the conveyance of country residents on Christmas Eve to and from Opunake.
