TARIFF TRUCE CONVENTION
UNWILLINGNESS suggested, MINISTER CLAIMS ADVANTAGE. By Telegraph;—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 8.15 p.m.; , London, Dec. 2. The tariff truce' convention had been signed by Belgium, Britain, Denmark, Finland, Italy, Latvia, Luxembourg. Norway, Sweden and Switzerland, said Mr. W. Graham, president of the Board of Trade,! in reply to a question in the House of Commons to-night.
Sir Phillip* Cunliffe-Lister asked: “Is it true no country' is willing generally to dismiss tariffs and that only bilateral negotiations are available for the truce, thus giving away our,only weapon?” Mr. Graham replied that did not quite represent the position. Witliout the efforts in coiuiection with the convention the tariffs would have been higher than .they-were now. .
