REMANDED PENDING REPORT
CHARGED WITH PROBATION LAPSE.
“I THINK YOU SHOULD GO TO GAQL’,’ -'.Found on a seat at the corner of Hobson and Devon Streets under the influence of liquor, Eric John Stuck! was charged in the New Plymouth Police Court yesterday with' failing to comply with the terms of his probationary license.. Seniorr-Sergeant. McCrorie said Stuck had the probation officer’s permission to be out after the usual hour. He was at present employed as a painter and was doing well. He had several convictions against him. “It seems to me you have earned a term of imprisonment,” said the magistrate. He decided, however, jto confer with the probation officer to ascertain whether anything could be said .in Stuck’s favour.
Later in the day Mr. .Tate said he did not- think he would be able to obtain a report from Mr. Dineen'that day. “But I want you to understand that as I see the matter at present I think you should go to gaol,” continued the magistrate/ “A’ou will be remanded till 10 a.m. to-morrow.” Bail was renewed.
