UNDERGROUND HOURS IN MINES. CONFERENCE British Wireless. Rec. 5.5 p.m. Rugby, Nov. 19. The Secretary for Mines, Mr. Shinwell, in an attempt to secure international agreements for the coal industry both in production and marketing and on miners’ hours yesterday met Herr Stegerwald, German Minister of Labour. The discussion concerned questions likely to arise at Geneva in June next year, when the International Labour Conference again considers the’ formulation of an international convention on underground hours for coal-miners. The two Ministers were able to reach an understanding of each other’s point of view. There were also informal discussions on the economic aspects of international coal questions, and Herr Stegerwald agreed to convey Mr. Shin, well’s suggestions to the German Government.
