COMMUNITY SERVICE
URENUI SPORTS CLUBS. The spirit of self-help and community service was associated with a pleasant dance held in the Urenui hall last night by the combined cricket and tennis clubs. To date these two clubs and the Urenui Seaside Society have raised a good sum towards the metalling of the whole length of road leading tOj the Urenui beach. The metal will make access easier to the tennis courts and the cricket club’s ground and will further popularise the excellent Urenui beach. At present £3O is being spent on a section of the toad, and the inoney raised by further iocal efforts will continue this work. The hall was filled last night and conditions, excepting the weather, were in every way favourable. The visitors included nearly 20 couples from Waitara. Kenton’s orchestra played for the dances and the masters of ceremonies were Messrs. C. Henwood and R. Jones. The club members had taken some trouble in specially decorating the hall and the ladies of the tennis club helped in the provision of supper. The two secretaries were Messrs. A. Wiley (cricket club) and E. Rogers (tennis club).
