Answering a question in the House of Commons in regard to the British representtaions ■ to the French Government representing the position of British holders of the 1919 French war bonds, Mr. P. Snowden stated that he regretted the reply received from the French Government was unfavourable and expressed inability to grant any equitable compensation to British holders, lhe matter was under consideration by the Treasury. ■ During the war a French loan was raised in Britain and it is now to be paid off in depreciated francs, holders thus losing four-fifths of their capital.
