HARBOURMASTER APPOINTED

POSITION AT NEW PLYMOUTH. CAPTAIN McINTYRE PROMOTED. Captain C. F. Mclntyre, assistant harbour master and pilot at New Plymouth, was yesterday promoted by the HarbourBoard to the position of harbour master and chief pilot in successio- to the late Captain. W. Waller, the appointment to date from October 1,1930. In that the appointment be made, Mr. J. R. Cruickshank remarked that Captain Mclntyre’s work in the past had shown he was a very capable deputy harbour master. He commanded the confidence of the shipping companies trading with the port. Mr. E. Maxwell added that the board was' fortunate in having available for apointment a man of Captain Mclntyre’s ability. During the.time the late Captain Waller was incapicitated through ill-health, said Mr. W. T. Wells, • Captain Mclntyre had done the duties very creditably, indeed. The chairman, Mr. C. E. Bellringer, in putting the motion, which was carried unanimously, remarked that Mr. Cruickshank had voiced the confidence of the shipping companies, an important qualification.
