VICTIM OF R101 DISASTER
SAD SCENE IN HOSPITAL. FIANCEE ARRIVES TOO DATE. Paris, Oct. 8. In connection with the death in the Beauvais. Hospital of Mr. S. Church, who had survived the RlOl disaster, a poignant touch was added to the scene when his fiancee, his father and his brother arrived shortly after he had passed away to-day. Nurses and doctors had fought hard all day yesterday to' save Church. A telegram was sent to his father, the postmaster at Cardington, stating that his son was not expected to live another day. The father and brother hastily summoned Mr. Church’s fiancee, a Bedford girl, and they left for Croydon in a special aeroplane, intending to continue the flight to Beauvais. In the meantime a most severe gale had sprung up, compelling the most powerful aeroplanes to remain in the hangars. The party immediately hurried to Dover, crossing the Channel in the teeth of the gale, only to arrive too late.
