“WRESTLING TOO DIRTY”
CANCELLATION AT WELLINGTON.
SINGLE CONTROL BODY ADVISED,
By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last .Night. The action of the Mayor, Mr. G. A. Troup, in refusing the use of the town Hall on Saturday afternoon for a wrestling match between Kara Pasha and Edwards was the subject of comment to-day. , The Mayor stated that the matter oi allowing wrestling matches to be held in the Town Hall would be brought before the finance committee on Monday, when the whole question would be gone into and a definite attitude assumed for the guidance of those associated with the sport in Wellington. The faqt that it had been allowed to go as far as it nad was no great credit to those concerned. The Mayor’s personal view was that the existence of two controlling associations had perhaps brought about rivalry the reverse of healthy, and that the sport would not be “cleaned up until it was placed under one responsible body, as was the case with boxing. One member of the city council, referring to the concellation of the bout, said: “The game is getting too dirty; it will have to be cleaned up.”J
