‘GENERAL AND PERSONAL ITEMS.

The Surf Club’s euchre tournament in St. Patrick’s hall on Friday resulted:— Mrs. 'Magee 1, Miss A. Newman 2; special table, Meedames R. McCallum and F. Des Forges and Messrs. M. Magee and D. Cbombes. The ladies in charge of the supper were Meedames W. J. S. Dudley, D. Ross and Miss R. De Castro.

The final euchre party in the Parish Hall promoted by the Church of England Ladies’ Guild was held on Monday evening. Prize winners were Mrs. R. Malcolm 1, Mr. D. Thomas 1; consolation prizes, Miss T. Roes and Mr. A. Baylis. Mrs. G. Baylis fvas hostess for the evening. The aggregate prizes for the series were awarded to Mrs. R. McCallum (a salad set) with 11.4 games, and to Mr. H. H. Gilshman (amber cigarette holder and tobacco pounch) with 112 games. The Rev. Faynell on behalf of the Guild presented Mr. W. Fake with an electric torch for appreciated services rendered by him as master of ceremonies.

C. 0. Edmonds won the senior championship of the Opunake Golf Club. The runner-up was J. N. Stephenson. The winner of the ladies junior champion? ship, played on Wednesday, was Miss Rene Julian, 3 up and 2. Mies Lewis was the runner-up. A party in aid of the sewing stall at the forthcoming Anglican bazaar was held at Mrs. F. Julian’s residence on Wednesday afternoon. Competitions were won by Mesdames J- D. Davies and W. Wan.

An enjoyable time was spent by those who attended the croquet club s euchre party at Egmont House on Wednesday evening. The prizes were won by Mrs. G. Baylis (ladies first) and Mrs. R. Malcolm (men’s first). Mrs. J. D. Davies, who is spending a

holiday in Opunake, is the guest of Mrs. F. Hammond. Miss Iris Mortenson, who underwent an operation in the New Plymouth hospital last week, is making steady progress towards recovery. Mrs. W. E; Gunson is holiday making .in Wellington. Mrs. F. Hammond returned to Opunake on Saturday after spending a fortnight in Greytown with Mrs. and the Rev. J. D. Davies.
