SCHOOL COMMITTEE AFFAIRS. Tire monthly meeting of the Inglewood School Committee was held on Wednesday evening, when Messrs. R. Darlow (chairman), A. Kirk (sccretarv), A. Baxter, C. Reid, M. Sutherland, A. J. Reeve and I. Grant were present. A letter was received from the supervisor regarding the cleaning of the Technical School. The cleaning had as usual been carried out by the cardtaker of the school, but there had been a misunderstanding between the school committee and the technical department with regard to payment. It was decided to . strongly support the protest against the diversion of the Opaku Reserve funds. Messrs. Darlow, A. Kirk and Baxter were appointed to represent Inglewood on the dental clinic committee. The visiting committee reported that a window and the sink in the cocoa room needed attention, also a number of the drinking utensils needed replacing. The sand pit also needed attention. The headmaster reported that the school closed with 282 on the roll and three had left since the new term opening and eleven had been added, making the present roll number 200. The school library needed additions of a certain class of books. A recommendation made by Mr. Kirk that some shelving in one room of the scnool be erected and that three’ maps be.purchased with the money raised for that purpose was adopted. Arrangements for an orchestra for the annual school ball were left to Mr. Sutherland and Mr. Kirk. Programme and other arrangements were left to the chairman, DENTAL CLINIC CONTROL. A nicotine of the Inglewood Dental Clinic Committee was held on Wednesday evening, when Messrs. R. Darlow, A. Kirk (secretary), A. Baxter (Inglewood),. Brown (Norfolk Road), Marsh (Egmont Village), Nolan (Ratapiko), and Sheila (Durham Road) were present.' Mr. Darlow was elected chairman. Mr. Darlow eaid it had been decided that the dental clinic should be run by a committee from all the schools concerned instead of the Inglewood School Committee. The committee was formed of a representative from each minor school and three J 'rom Inglewood. There had been a £l2 7s 8d surplus from the building of the clinic, but this had already been spent in maintenance, and he estimated the cost, of the ' running for the coming ye’ar would amount to about £3O. The secretary presented the following statement with regards the buildin” of the clinic: Receipts—lnglewood school £32, Norfolk Road £9, Egmont Village £9, Ratapiko arid. Kaimata .each £7, Dudley Road, Lincoln Road, Waitri arid Durham Road schools each . £3, making a total of £76.’ Expenditure: Education Board. £5O, borough £9 16s, and <other minor accounts .£3 16s 4d, leaving a balance of £l2 7s Bd. Receipts and expenditure 'from April 1, 1926, to August, 1930, were: Receipts—From the various schools, £6 12s; / balance from building fund, £l2 7s Bd. Expenditure—Rent and maintenance,. £7* 4s lid, light and power £lO Us 6d, cleaning £5 7s 6d, minor accounts £3 13s Id, leaving a debit balance of £7 17 s 4d. For maintenance for the forthcoming y< ir it was decided to put the various schools on the following basis: Inglewood £l4, Norfolk Road £4, Egmont Village £3, Ratapiko £2 10s, Kaimata £2 10s, Dudley Road, . Lincoln Road, Waitui and Durham Road each. £2, making a t. tai of £34. ’ A motion was passed that £7 17e 4d be contributed by the Inglewood committee as its contribution for' the run-, ning expenses of the clinic during tlie past year, thus wiping out the debit balance.
