NEW ZEALANDERS QUALIFY. MISS KAYE STRIKES TROUBLE. By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. Rec. 10.10 p.m. Melbourne, August 28. A tempestuous north wind’ interfered with the’ second day’s play in the women’s golf championship on the Commonwealth links. The 16 leaders at the conclusion of to-day’s round qualified for the final stages, which will begin on Monday. Miss Oliver Kaye, New Zealand, had a decided set-back to-day when she took 12 at the second hole, but owing to her fine round yesterday she did not seriously jeopardise her chance of being among the final 16. The leading scorers in the two qualifying rounds were: Miss Susie Tolhurst, 84, 85—169; Mrs. Russell, 86, 87—173; Miss L. Wray, 86, 89 —175; Miss L. Bailey, 80, 97 —177 and Miss, Kaye, 83, 94 —177; Miss F. Rathbone (New Zealand), 89, 98—187. Others to qualify are Miss Sale, Mrs. Hay, Mrs. Cox, Miss Lascelles, Miss Donaldson, Miss Burgess, Mrs. I. Whitton, Miss Outhwaite, Miss N. Murdoch, Miss Nankivell. In the first round Miss Kaye will play Miss Lascelles and Miss Rathbone will play Mrs. Hay.
