MOTHERS’ CLUB MEETING
REVIEW OF PAST YEAR. The annual meeting of the New Plymouth Mothers’ Club was held last night when Mrs. A. M. Barnden presided over an attendance of 11 members.
The annual report stated that the year had been a very busy one. There liad been very instructive addresses by Nurse Petersen on the “Care of Sick Children,” Miss Douglas on the “Beauties of New Zealand Trees and Flora," and Miss Wilson on “Practical Hints on Avoiding Waste.” The members contributed on two evenings practical hints on gardening and general recipes. Two jumble sales were held, one in November and one in May, and a concert was given in July. The net result of the three efforts was £2B Is 6d, £23 15s of which had been handed over to the Y.W.C.A. in cash and goods. A social evening to junior citizens and mothers was given in July. Supper was served to the artists at the concert in July and in the same month the mothers took charge of the afternoon tea at the Girl Citizens’ bazaar, £1 13s being taken. Several members were lost during the year, but three new members wen gained. The report paid a tribute to the work of Mrs. Blundell and to the successful way in which the new president had .carried out her duties. The election of officers resulted: Pre- ‘ sident, Mrs. A. M. Barnden; vice-presi-dent, Mrs. L. Chivers; secretary, Mrs. I E. M. Chapman. <
