Adverse weather conditions prevailed for the second day’s play in the primary schools’ Rugby tournament in the Hutt Valley, though the rain held off during the matches. The ground was sodden from heavy rain overnight and during- the morning and a stiff breeze blew from the south-east. Despite the adverse weather and the slippery ball the standard of football was of a very high order and the handling of the greasy ball was excellent. The first game was between Taranaki and Rangitikei, each team having nad a win on Saturday. The Taranaki team was the. same as on Saturday against Horowhenua, The game resolved itself into a hard struggle between two good packs of forwards, Rangitikei emerging victorious by 10 .points to 6. Rangitikei had an advantage in weight and .inconsequence the Taranaki backs saw very little of the ball.
