! SIX-A-SiDE TOURNAMENT CALEDONIAN WIN PRIEST SHIELD. ALBION B DEFEATED. IN FINAL. The second annual tournament between six-a-side Association football teams for the Priest Shield was held in wet weather at Western Park on Saturday. The final was won by Caledonians, who defeated Albion B, last year’s winners, by two goals to nil. Heavy showers fell intermittently, with the result that the ground was sodden and the ball greasy. The attendance was poor. A feature of the tournament was the entry of a Maori team playing in Moturoa’s colours. The team showed remarkable ability- • considering. many' of the members were new to the game. In fact, Albion B was rather lucky to win against these vigorous opponents,-': The tournament was conducted by the northern sub-division of tho Taranaki Football Association. Owing to a number of defaults the programme was considerably shortened, and it was unnecessary to play some of the earlier matches on the racecourse, as originally intended. The referees were Messrs. C. Cuff, G. Lawrence and C. Swan. When the scores were otherwise equal corners counted. Details of the rounds are:—First Round. Moturoa A 1 v. Pirates B 0. Pirates A 1 v. Moturoa B 0. Caledonian 3 v. Albion AO. , Albion B won from a Caledonian team by default, and Moturoa' C (Maoris) won in a similar manner from Celtic. Second Round. • Moturoa A 2 v. Pirates A 1. —-This was' a closely-contested game in which extra time was needed to decide the winner. After a period of even play Allsop opened Pirates’ account with a splendid shot. Then Pirates forced a corner. Early in the second half a free kick was awarded Moturoa, and from a scramble' in the' goal-mouth Roper scored. Then, just on time, Knight forced a corner. Extra time was ordered and White scored for Moturoa after a very fine piece of team work. Albion B 1 g. 1 c. v. Moturoa C 1 g.— Moturoa, a teani’ comprised almost wholly of Maoris, set off with vigour, led by McDonald. In a few seconds the Albions • were defending strenuously. Martin sent in to O’Dowd and he sent a fine shot past Harrold. Albions played one man short. Later Martin just missed another goal. The Albions were hardpressed but eventually relieved, and Bannister tested Edwards. He repeated the dose twice, Walbran taking the second rebound and kicking into the net. In ■ the second spell Brown joined Albion. The Maoris then had a harder task. Upshall, Walbran and Bannister came down together and the. first-named sent a shot over the bar.’ Koti sent away and then Albion obtained k corner and the - match.

Caledonians had a bye. Semi-Final. ; Caledonians 1■ g. 2 c. v. Moturoa, 1 g. 1 c.—The Caledonians started well,, but Anderson relieved by sending to. Knight and Roper. Hill took a poor shot and Crowe booted through. Caledonians, received a penalty for “hands,” but Rennold’s kick was Well-saved by Johns. Then Crawford sent one past him. Caledonians obtained tlje second corner as half-time sounded. "In the second spell Knight sent to Roper and Anderson, who tested Bell. Anderson and Bensley began to harry the defence, and Roper tested Bell. A minute later Moturoa obtained a corner. Roper had a clear run but Crawford stopped him at the net and dribbled down the side. Johns' -stopped a great shot by Hill. Knight put in a good solo run but with none to beat but the goalie was put off his shot by Rennolds. Roper sent to Knight, who. tested Bell and then rushed in to kick the rebound into the net. Final.

Caledonians (Bell, goalie, Rennolds, Crowe, Hill, Gardner, Crawford) 2 v. Albion B (Harrold, goalie, Davis, Brown, Bannister, Walbran, Upstall) 0. —Caledonians attacked, but Brown sent away. Crawford came back and tested Harrold. Shortly afterwards Crawford received again and netted. Brown passed to Walbran and to Bannister, but Crowe interposed.’Crowe and Rennolds were on' the defence for a second or so. Then the ball weiit away to Hill and to Gardner, who netted.’ Upshall went away but Rennolds came up and collided with him and was temporarily incapacitated. In the second half Davis kicked away | but Gardner came through fast and Tested Harrold, who raif out to kick away.' Crawford rushed in and shot, the ball going behind. From the throw-in Crowe sent to Hill who, running down the side, beat Davis and tested Harrold. Rennolds was too good for Walbran and sent away to Hill. He crossed to Crawford, who tested Harrold. Upshall tested Bell, and. the game ended in favour of Caledonians..

A match, between Fitzroy Scouts and Fitzroy schoolboys was played before the final and resulted in a win for. the Scouts by three goals to two. Auckland, Last Night.
